Dr. Umar Saif

Dr. Umar Saif is an Associate Professor at the Lahore University of Management Science (LUMS) and Head of the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). He also serves as Vice Chancellor of the Information Technology University and is a founder of Plan 9, a government-financed tech start-up incubator in Lahore. Dr. Saif received his PhD in computer science from the University of Cambridge at the age of 22. He later joined the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) to do post-doctoral research. He was named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in 2010, selected as one of 35 young innovators in the world by the MIT Technology Review in 2011 and received a Google Faculty Research Award in 2011.
