Dr Faisal Bari
Faisal is Chairman of the IDEAS Board of Directors, Deputy Country Director, Pakistan for the Central Eurasia Project and Education Economist for South Asia Open Society Foundation. He is additionally Associate Professor of Economics at LUMS where he has previously served as head of department.
Former Executive Director and current visiting research fellow at Mahbubul Haq Human Development Centre, Faisal has over 12 years of research experience in industrial economics, development economic and education economics. He has done consultations for various agencies including the World Bank, UNDP, DFID, and the Asian Development Bank.
A former columnist for the English daily The Nation, he currently writes for Dawn.
Faisal did his BA (Honors) from the University of Oxford and BSc from Government College, Lahore. He has a Masters degree in Philosophy from the University of Punjab and a Doctorate in Economics from McGill University, Canada.
